Problems we faced whilst filming

During filming we faced several problems that we had to overcome:

1. The Weather

- Whilst trying to film for our trailer, several of our scheduled shooting days had to be called off due to the heavy rain and wind. By the third attempted shooting day we decided that we had to continue filming despite the rain as it looked like it wasn't going to be letting up any time soon so we had no choice. However, we did manage to make it work as we incorporated the rain into our piece, using it to create atmosphere, especially during the scenes where you see Luke with a girl. Whilst it did create some problems at the skatepark as the ramps became especially slippy and hard to skateboard on, we managed to make it work and in the end used the rain to our advantage to make a more emotive piece

2. Props

- Another problem that we faced was that one of our skateboards snapped completely in half early on during shooting. This was a problem as it was imperative that we had two skateboards in several of the scenes and therefore we couldn't really continue without it. We managed to quickly replace the skateboard and film the intended shots but it did mean we were a few days behind where we would have liked to have been with our shooting schedule

3. The Camera

- We also faced issues with the Camera as whilst filming in the rain we had to be careful not to get it wet which limited some of the angles we could used as we always had to cover it. Due to the fact it was quite misty and windy as well as raining there was often water droplets on the lens which made the shots out of focused and we had to reshoot. We managed to reshoot everything we needed in good time so this wasn't too much of an issue to our overall piece

4. Shooting Schedule

- The final problem we faced was our actors conflicting schedules. Due the fact it was a romance film we often needed both of our main actors at the same time as they were in most of the scenes together. This was a problem as one worked Saturdays and the other worked Sundays. We couldn't really film after school as it was during the winter and it was dark which would have gone against the conventions of a romance film to have all of the scenes at 'nighttime'. This was why it was so important for us to get the filming done during a half term and therefore why the issues of the rain became such a problem as it was really the only time we could film
