Shown above is the original font we chose for the title of our film. We decided the having the title written in white so that it would stand out against the background as the title is a key part of our film with its links the the LGBTQ community but also because from an advertising point of view without a clear title people will not recognize the film when they hear about it, only when they see it. We initially chose this front as it fit in with the romantic genre. However, upon reflection we decided that it was too feminine for the social realism aspects of our piece and also didn't link with the fact that our main protagonists were both quite masculine. Therefore we decided to find a different font
The font we chose to use for our final piece is the font 'Intruding Cat Regular'. We decided to use this font as it has more connotations of social realism which subverts the scene behind it which is a common theme of our trailer. This font gives the appearance of Graffiti which is commonly shown throughout social realism films. It also is a lot more masculine than the first font which fits in better with our protagonists personality. When it came to searching for want type of font we wanted to use we were inspired by the film 'Call me by Your name' (shown below)
Although this film is purely a romantic film, whilst ours is a combination of romance and social realism and therefore has lots of differences, such as the location, we decided that this sort of font would be perfect for our piece and therefore we decided to look for something similar but something that also had connotations of the social realism genre to help it fit with our piece more effectively
