9 frame analysis

This is a selection of 9 key moments from the trailer for the film 'BPM'. In the first three shots, the plot of the film is being summed up, it is quite light hearted with bright colors and ordinary situations. In the middle sections, the next three shots, you begin to see the love story side of the film. The two main characters standing very close, at the beach (which has romantic connotations) and having fun together. In the final three shots, the trailer takes a darker turn. You see the true meaning behind the film, you have already become attached to the characters by this point and are intrigued by the love story so when they show the darker images and the sad parts of their relationship you still want to watch the film. This makes it a very effective trailer as it draws the audience in with a love story and then shocks them with moving images that leave them wanting to find out more. Although this is a very moving film and features homosexuality, we cannot use much from this trailer as it has a much more political and moving message than ours does as they deal with even more serious topics, such as AIDS.
