Inception Posters Analysis

This is the official movie poster for the film 'Inception' that can be found on the cover of the DVD and on its iMDB page. This poster features the actor 'Leonardo DiCaprio' at the top in capital letters as he is not only the protagonist but a big name in the film industry who will attract the audience to the film. The fact that the characters are holding guns shows that this film will include action/violence and the color palette of blue, grey and red shows that this is a thriller as these are colors associated with this genre. It effectively draws the audience in without giving away too much of the plot.








This is a minimalistic poster for the film 'Inception' created by a fan. As there is no official minimalistic film poster I had to choose one created by a fan and I thought this was quite an effective one. The use of a quote from the film helps to draw people in as it leaves them wanting to know more and the quote used here is quite mysterious and this will attract the audience even more. The picture of the man in the chair connected to wires gives a feel for the film, that it is some sort of science fiction but again doesn't give the plot away. This poster hasn't included any of the actors or their names, this may be to help give the minimalist feel. The dark colour palette however, of just black and red, may mislead the audience into thinking this is a horror film as those colors are iconography of that genre not thriller.
